You’re so fine in Heaven

Since COVID-19, awareness of the risk of airborne disease transmission has increased significantly. The fine mist released when we exhale contains microscopic water droplets (aerosols) that can remain suspended in the air for extended periods.

Viruses and other pathogens can attach themselves to these aerosols. Spending several hours in such indoor environments may pose a health risk that can only be effectively reduced by wearing a highly efficient face mask. An effective alternative is the use of UV air sterilizers. These systems operate in two stages: first, they filter pathogens from the air; then, they neutralize them using UV-C light.

The UV-C air sterilization units installed throughout HEAVEN achieve a sterilization rate of 99.99% in enclosed spaces, according to the manufacturer. They operate quietly, promote pleasant air circulation, and help maintain exceptionally high indoor air quality—an improvement that many allergy sufferers, in particular, experience as a significant benefit.
The UV-C light itself is completely enclosed within a discreet wall-mounted unit, making it invisible during operation.

Pathogenic microorganisms—including bacteria, viruses, pollen, fungi, and yeast spores—typically measure 1 µm or less and are continuously present in the ambient air. To eliminate the risk of mixing fresh air with virus-contaminated exhaust air, HEAVEN exclusively uses 100% fresh-air ventilation systems.
In addition, the filtration performance of the building's air-handling units has been significantly enhanced beyond conventional standards. The consistent use of Class 9 air filters delivers substantially cleaner supply air and reduces airborne pathogens by a further 100% compared with the filtration standard typically found in office buildings.

Ventilation systems incorporate several heat exchangers to heat or cool the air as required and to recover thermal energy from the exhaust air. Traditionally, only hospitals—with their exceptionally stringent hygiene standards—have used heat exchangers featuring increased fin spacing, which allows for more effective cleaning.
These heat exchangers also incorporate additional design features that help prevent the growth and spread of microorganisms within the air-handling system.
At HEAVEN, these hospital-grade heat exchangers—normally found only in healthcare facilities—are also installed throughout the office building, bringing clinical hygiene standards to the workplace.

For cost reasons, office ventilation systems are rarely equipped with dehumidification. Yet it is well established that higher humidity levels promote the growth of microorganisms.
In addition, during periods of warm, humid weather, chilled ceilings installed in office buildings are typically switched off automatically by dew point sensors to prevent condensation from forming on the ceiling surface—precisely when cooling is needed most.
HEAVEN takes a different approach. Its ventilation systems are equipped with an integrated dehumidification function, delivering two key benefits for occupants: a significantly higher level of indoor comfort and a substantially reduced microbial load in the air.

Office ventilation systems are typically equipped with rotary heat exchangers for energy recovery. In these systems, a porous thermal storage wheel rotates alternately through the exhaust and supply air streams. Because of unavoidable air leakage, however, there is a risk that virus- or bacteria-laden exhaust air may be transferred into the incoming fresh air.
Hospitals, by contrast, rely exclusively on run-around coil heat recovery systems, which provide completely contamination-free operation. In these systems, one heat exchanger is installed in the exhaust air stream and another in the outdoor air stream. Thermal energy is transferred between them via a closed water circuit with pumps and piping, eliminating any possibility of air cross-contamination. By incorporating this hospital-grade heat recovery system, HEAVEN ensures the highest possible standard of hygienically clean supply air.
